Rules & Regulations

General

  • While the Organiser will take reasonable precautions to ensure participants’ safety, participants compete at their own risk. The Organiser is not liable for any bodily injuries, loss and/or damage to property arising from participation in this event.
  • The Organiser reserves the right to use photographs or recordings of participants for any purpose, including but not limited to commercial and advertising purposes.
  • The Race Director’s decision is final.

EntrY & Refund

  • Participants who complete the Online Registration agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the event (Apex Duathlon 2024).
  • The Organiser reserves the right to limit, accept or reject any entry at its sole discretion.
  • All participants must complete the Online Registration entry form with accurate and truthful information.
  • Once a registration is being processed, there will be NO REFUND for those who fail to show up for the race and/or withdraw from it.
  • The race registration will only be confirmed upon full payment of the race entry fee.
  • Race category and race entry are not transferable.
  • NO CHANGES to name and race category will be allowed after the registration is completed. Please verify all details are accurate before submitting your registration.
  • On-site entries will NOT be accepted.
  • Minimum age for Sprint Distance Race is 15 years and for Challenge Distance Race is 18 years on 31 Dec 2024.

APEX KIDS

  • Schedule is subject to change based on the number of participants.
  • A higher number of participants will require semi-final and final rounds.
  • Maximum racers per heat: 10-15 kids.
  • Younger kids may take longer to finish. Expect some drama.
  • Podiums will be awarded from 1st to 5th place. Celebrate the kids!
  • Participant age will be based on Year of Birth (YOB).

Race Pack

  • To ensure a smooth race day experience, all participants are required to pick up their Race Packs and Goodie Bags during the designated On-site Race Collection Day.
  • Please note that participants who fail to collect their Race Packs during the schedules date and time will be forfeited.

Race Day

  • There will be a Race Briefing conducted by the Organiser. First-time participants are encouraged to attend. However, all participants are required to download the E-Briefing (which will be made available soon) which contain important information, route map and guide for the event.
  • A participant may be disqualified for the following reasons:
    1. Failing to follow the rules and regulations and /or instructions given by the Organiser and/or Race Officials.
    2. Consumption of alcohol, stimulants or any kind of prohibited drugs 24 hours before the race.
  • If a participant decides to withdraw from the race, they should report to one of the Race Officials.
  • The details on the reverse side of your RACE BIB must be filled in to enable us to contact your next-of-kin in case of emergency.
  • The cut-off time for Challenge Category is 5 hours 30 minutes.
  • In the event of a tie for the Fastest Runner or Fastest Cyclist category, the WINNER will be the one with the faster finishing time in the Challenge Category.

TIMING CHIP

  • The Multisport Timing Chip is the sole means of race timing measurement. NO CHIP = NO TIMING
  • All participants must ensure that their Timing Chips are securely strapped to their left or right ankle before the start of the race.
  • The Organiser will not be responsible for any inaccuracy in participant’s race timings due to improper wearing of Timing Chip.

Running

  • All runners must ensure that their race numbers are clearly visible on the front of their running attires at all times.
  • A shirt must be always worn.
  • Headphones or earphones are not permitted during the race.

Cycling

  • All participants are required to use their own equipment and attire for the race. The Organiser will NOT provide any of these items to the participants.
  • This is a draft-legal race. For safety reasons only road bike is allowed for the race. Below are Draft-legal race rules:
    1. Frame: The frame of the bike shall be of a traditional pattern, i.e. built around a closed frame of straight or tapered tubular elements (which may be round, oval, flattened, teardrop-shaped, or otherwise in cross-section). Bikes built around a diamond shape (no saddle down tube) or with a rear triangle which does not connect at the top of the down tube/top tube section are considered acceptable.
    2. Non-traditional or unusual bikes: Non-traditional or unusual bikes or equipment shall be illegal unless details have been submitted to the Malaysia Triathlon Technical Committee for approval at least 30 days before the Event.
    3. Wheels:
      1. No wheel may contain any mechanisms, which are capable of accelerating it.
      2. There must be a brake on each wheel.
      3. Wheels shall have at least 12 spokes.
      4. Disc wheels are not allowed.
    4. Handlebars:
      1. Only traditional drop handlebars are permitted. The handlebars must be plugged
      2. Clip-ons are not allowed.
    5. Time Trial Bike / TT Bike:
      1. Time Trial / TT bike are allowed to race but will not be allowed to draft due to safety reasons and will be disqualifi­ed.
  • All participants must wear a helmet during the entire cycling course. Any participant seen riding without a helmet will result in immediate disqualification.
  • All participants must ensure that their helmets are securely fastened before leaving the transition area.
  • All participants must ensure that their race numbers are visible at the back of their cycling attires at all times.
  • Bare torso is not allowed.
  • Participants may walk or run with their bicycle.
  • Support vehicles and crews are not permitted. Any assistance received during cycling will result in immediate disqualification (except medical aid).
  • All participants are required to perform self-repairs if their bicycle encounters mechanical issues.
  • Participants must place their bicycles at the designated bicycle rack with their race numbers visible on race day morning.
  • All participants are encouraged to have their bikes checked before the race starts.

Transition Area

  • Each bicycle rack is numbered to correspond with a participant’s race number.
  • Participants must place their bicycles at the designated bicycle rack with their race numbers visible and in place.
  • The Organiser will provide a basket to each participant for their belongings.
  • Participants must not interfere with another participant’s belongings.
  • Cycling is not permitted in the Transition Area.

Inclement Weather

  • In the event of inclement weather, the Organizer reserves the right to delay the commencement of the race.
  • Should inclement weather persist after the delay, the Organizer reserves the right to further delay or postpone the race without any refund of registration fees.

Medical Advisory

  • Duathlon is a physically demanding sport. Therefore, if you are unsure of your physical health condition, please seek medical advice from a medical professional before registering for the race.
  • Participants are advised against the consumption of alcohol, stimulants, or any kind of prohibited drugs within 24-hours before the race.
  • Participants should ensure that they are physically prepared, well-rested, and well-hydrated on the race day.
  • If a participant feels unwell during the race, he/she should stop and seek immediate medical attention from the on-course ambulance or at the finishing area.
  • Medical Professionals have the right to remove a participant from the race if they are deemed physically incapable of continuing, e.g. severe dehydration, dizziness, or fainting. The Organiser’s decision is final in these cases.
